Call for applications to H.A.L.D.

The Danish Centre for Writers and Translators has the pleasure of being able to offer a four-week working residency in the buildings on the beautiful grounds of Hald Hovedgaard, near the town of Viborg, in the period of July 13 – August 10, 2009.
Four foreign authors and four to six Danish authors will gather for this period in a writing-conducive environment, where they will have the opportunity to work undistracted in an inspiring literary atmosphere.
This working residency is available to Danish and foreign writers who have had at least two works of fiction published, whether it be prose or poetry.
To apply
The application should be one page long, maximum, and contain a short explanation of your motivation for attending this international summer residence programme, as well as a short description of the project that you plan to be working on during your stay. Applicants must also include a bibliography of published works. You are welcome to attach up to a five-page sample of a work-in-progress, but this is optional.
Applications from writers from abroad must be in English, while Danish writers may submit their application in either Danish or English.
Danish applicants are asked to specify whether they wish to participate in H.A.L.D. for the first two weeks (July 13 – July 26), the second two weeks (July 27 – August 10), or both periods.
Applications are to be sent to Hald Hovedgaard’s director, Peter Q. Rannes, at pqr@haldhovedgaard.dk. Deadline for all applications is April 1, 2009.
Applicants can expect a reply around April 15th.
Obligations for Participants
As with all writers who have stayed as Hald Hovedgaard, the authors who are accepted for H.A.L.D.’s residency program are obliged to submit a short report on their stay after their residency is completed, as well as send a copy of their work-in-progress to Hald Hovedgaard when it is completed and published.
It is also expected that writers participate in reading-aloud sessions, meet-the-author sessions and other events during the Danish Centre for Writers and Translators’ book and literature festival, “St. Bogdag på Hald” (The Great Book at Hald), which will be held on August 8, 2009.
DIVA
The H.A.L.D. residency program is supported by DIVA – the Danish International Visiting Artists Exchange Programme, a programme administered by The Danish Arts Council (link to text in Danish and English). This means that, besides staying at Hald for free, the four chosen authors from abroad will receive a sum of DKK 10,000 to cover other expenses, such as food, as well as a refund of up to DKK 5,000 (DKK 7.000 overseas) for travel expenses.
LITLIVE #63
Litlive #63 er det første nummer i det nye år. Litlives syvende år. Nyt år og ny redaktion. Vi skal tage afsked med den funderende fader Martin Glaz Serup, som startede det hele sammen med Pablo Llambias i 2003. Ligeledes indstiller den svenske redaktør Annelie Axén og den danske Thomas Nyström arbejdet hos Litlive. En stor tak skal der lyde for det kompetente arbejde og opbygningen af den velfunderede platform for litterærformidling som Litlive er i dag.
De to afgående danske redaktører blev allerede i efteråret 08 suppleret af Kamilla Löfström og Mathias Kokholm. I det nye år byder vi hjertelig velkommen til den nye svenske redaktør Kristofer Folkhammar, som udover sit engagement hos Litlive skriver litterær kritik i svenske Aftonbladet og har egen skønlitterær praksis, bosiddende i Göteborg, hvor han meget passende er med i kollektivet G=T=B=R=G.
I Litlive #63 præsenteres læsninger af tre nye svenske titler, to norske og en enkelt dansk. Det drejer sig om David Vikgrens tredje udgivelse, digtsamlingen Inomhuslektionen, som tages under behandling af Helena Boberg. Dernæst den konceptuelle roman Den röda himlen af Lotta Lotaas som læses af Nils Olsson. Johan Dahlbäck anmelder Andrzej Tichý anden roman Fält, som er indstillet til Nordisk Råds litteraturpris. Også norske Øyvind Rimbereid er indstillet til prisen med sin niende bog, digtsamlingen Herbarium, som behandles af den danske kritiker Lars Bukdahl. Norske Marit Opeides tredje bog Øyeblikk av øst anmeldes af Sissel Lie. Karsten Sand Iversen bidrager til nummeret med en væsentlig indføring og læsning af den ambitiøse udgivelse Poetiske forposter – Jens Kruuse og Heretica – Breve 1942-72, Per Højholt og Heretica. Breve 1948-53 ved Lotte Thyrring Andersen og Bruno Svindborg.
